Attorney Martin G. Murphy, Jr.

Martin G. Murphy, Jr. is a dedicated family law attorney with a unique blend of legal insight, real-world experience, and unwavering commitment to the people he serves. A graduate of Rutgers School of Law–Camden (2010), Mr. Murphy entered the legal profession after retiring from a distinguished twenty-year career in law enforcement. During law school, he served as Associate Notes Editor for the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion and provided pro bono representation to survivors of domestic violence through the school’s Domestic Violence Clinic. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from La Salle University.

Mr. Murphy was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 2012 and the South Carolina Bar in 2017. Before opening his solo practice, Martin Murphy Law, LLC, he worked as an Associate Attorney at Lowcountry Divorce & Family Law, LLC, where he represented clients in complex family law matters. His legal background also includes service as a Municipal Prosecutor and experience defending clients in criminal court—giving him well-rounded insight into the courtroom and the challenges clients face.

Deeply committed to his profession and his community, Mr. Murphy serves on the Board of the Berkeley County Bar Association and is also a member of the Dorchester and Charleston County Bar Associations.

Service has always been central to Mr. Murphy’s life. He has proudly served in the U.S. military since 1992—first in the Army National Guard and now as a Soldier in the U.S. Army Reserve. His respect for the men and women who serve our country remains at the heart of his practice and his personal values.

Outside the office, Mr. Murphy enjoys golf, cigars, and spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He is the proud father of two adult sons and a grandfather. With family rooted in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, he makes regular trips north several times a year. Mr. Murphy also studies Wado Ryu Karate at the Japan Karate Institute - Moncks Corner.

Clients often appreciate Mr. Murphy’s honesty and relatability. He openly shares that he did not handle his own divorce—recognizing that even attorneys can be too emotionally involved in their own cases. It’s why he always advises new clients to hire counsel they trust: because having a level-headed advocate can make all the difference.

Compassionate, experienced, and grounded in service, Martin G. Murphy, Jr. brings both professional strength and personal understanding to every client who walks through his door.
